What is a surgical micro-hackathon?
A 3-hour workshop where teams work together to generate a novel solution to a problem in clinical surgery.
Why should I do this?
Creative problem solving to overcome clinical challenges is imperative to best care for our patients. Learning how to apply a basic design framework to a clinical challenge is a first step in becoming a clinician innovator.
When/Where?
Saturday October 5 from 11am-2pm in TMEC 128. Lunch will be served.
What do I do next?
Please go to this link and fill out the brief application.
DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 9th for APPLICATIONS.
How else can I be involved in surgical innovation?
The Harvard Surgical Program in Innovation (SPIN) hosts a half-year course beginning in December where teams of students, surgery residents, and engineers design, fabricate, and develop a pitch for a new device. The HMS Surgical Hackathon will be an excellent introduction to the SPIN team and our philosophy for training clinician innovators.
Look forward to meeting you all!
